HACH Private Capital provides M&A, corporate advisory, strategic consulting and capital raising services to privately held businesses pursuing global growth opportunities, capitalising on its extensive networks throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

HACH Private Capital works closely with our accounting, tax and advisory partners to provide comprehensive specialist solutions to clients.

Our team has substantial industry experience in technology, agriculture, media, consumer goods and healthcare, but has the capabilities to serve business in any market sector.

Alignment with our clients is key for us. Our philosophy is we must always be driven by our clients needs and constantly strive to achieve the desired outcomes.

Through our private, invite only investment club for like-minded clients, Club 1897, we offer direct investment opportunities where HACH takes on a pseudo General Partner role. In doing so we originate opportunities, carry out the necessary due diligence, negotiate deal structures and entry price and then help drive the investee company up the value chain to an eventual exit.

  • Sean Cortis

    Chief Executive Officer (Joint) & Co-Founder

    Sean’s key interest is advising families of substantial wealth on the role of the family office in achieving family harmony and wealth preservation across the generations. Sean’s strong tax and business advisory capability has led to his involvement in a number of innovative consulting and corporate advisory assignments, such as public listings, business sales, debt and equity raisings, valuations, mergers and acquisitions, mostly in the family business context.

    Sean has worked with a number of prominent families, locally and overseas, on matters of family governance and structures, including the design and implementation of family office infrastructure. He is a recognized thought leader in the family office arena and regularly writes and presents on topics that are challenging for families.

    Sean has been an active volunteer in the philanthropic sector for many years, having co-founded the Chapman Eastway Charitable Foundation and serving as Chair of Epilepsy Action Australia from 2016 to 2018.

    Sean is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand, a Chartered Tax Advisor and has received TEP designation from the Society of Tax and Estate Practitioners for his experience as a tax and estate practitioner. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from The University of New South Wales and has also been awarded a certificate in Fiduciary Governance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Sean works closely with the academic community, serving on the Global steering Committee for the STEP Business Families Special Interest Group and as teaching support for the Macquarie Graduate School of Management MBA Program.

  • Fergus Herbert

    Chief Executive Officer (Joint) & Co-Founder

    Fergus has been involved with the incubation of many companies with compelling growth characteristics over the past 30 years with roles as founder, CEO and Chairman/director.

    He is adept at helping emerging companies understand what they need to do to reach a state of commercial success and has raised over half a billion dollars in the past two decades for start-up ventures around the globe

    He holds a passion for restoration of heritage buildings of significance, such as Manly Bathers Pavilion and is involved in teaching young adults the financial skills they need to acquire property and sustainable wealth creation.

    Fergus is strong believer that funding has an energetic exchange and must come from the correct source and is focused on ensuring his clients find the right investors necessary to achieve their idyllic goals.

  • Eric Kamal

    Senior Financial Analyst & Partner

    Eric is a CFA charterholder and a qualified accountant. Eric has extensive background in investment analysis, financial modelling, due diligence and corporate insolvency.

    Eric is responsible for conducting due diligence and financial analysis on various private investment opportunities for our clients. Eric has expertise in preparing 3-way financial models and forecasts to assist corporate clients in determining capital/funding requirements, for corporate acquisitions/divestments, and in creating scenario analysis to support new business strategies.

    Eric has also worked for RSM Chartered Accountants where he was responsible for managing corporate insolvency engagements. Eric has also worked as an investment analyst at PM Capital Ltd where he was responsible for conducting due diligence on various global equity investment opportunities.
